Polar Bear Recap Destination #3 – Susquehanna Inn and Conowingo Dam

Tuesday, November 29th, 2022

Hello Fellow Polar Bear,

RECAP:
It was a 55 degree, mostly sunny day for our 3rd Polar Bear ride destination. 30 riders and 4 passengers decided to enjoy the beautiful weather and ride to Susquehanna Inn for Polar Bear sign-in.

16 of those people choose to ride along on the led ride to Susquehanna Inn. It was a scenic, mostly backroad ride which included 4 covered bridges and a chance to see a Strasburg Rail Road Steam Engine in action. We did however encounter a rare and seldom seen phenomenon, almost as rare as the Full Blood Moon Eclipse, the riders in the back of the group arrived at Susquehanna Inn before the riders in the front.

The trip to the bottom of Conowingo Dam for eagle viewing was not unrewarded. Attached are a few eagle photos for you to enjoy. Maggie Breidenstein took the photos and was nice enough to share.

The next Polar Bear event and destination is Sunday, Dec 04 at Gracie’s for breakfast. Sign-in time is 8-9AM. The forecast as of now is 49 degrees and mostly sunny.

Just incase anyone is interested, there are now 22 people with perfect attendance.

Hope to see yawl next Sunday,

Polar Bear Recap Destination #2

Monday, November 21st, 2022

Hello Fellow Polar Bear,

RECAP:
It was a 29 degree, mostly windy, mostly sunny and mostly cold day for our 2nd Polar Bear ride destination. 27 riders and 4 passengers rode to Fredericksburg Eagle Hotel to sign-in. We were greeted with a warm saloon to warm our outsides and great food to warm our insides. They have a large menu to select from with reasonable prices. I sampled a bowl of their broccoli, cheese, potato, bacon stew and an order of wings. Both were very good.

Next time you see Doug Haas please thank him for such a great suggestion for a polar Bear destination.

The next Polar Bear event and destination is Saturday, Nov 26 at the Susquehanna Inn (great pit beef and ham sandwiches with homemade rolls). Sign-in time is 12-1PM. The forecast as of now is 51 degrees cloudy with a slight chance of showers, but that forecast will probably change because Pill has promised 50 degrees and sunny. I guess we will have to just wait and see.

INPORTANT INFO:
A lead ride to Susquehanna Inn for check-in will leave Classic HD at 10:00AM. It will be a scenic ride arriving approximately at 11:45 – 12:00PM. After lunch a trip to the bottom of the Conowingo Dam to hopefully see a few Bald Eagles is planned for anyone interested to ride along. Don’t forget to bring your binoculars if you have a pair.
This Polar Bear Ride is the only lead ride in the Polar Bear Program this season.
You are most welcome to join the lead ride or ride to Susquehanna Inn on your own.

Just incase anyone is interested, there are now 26 people with perfect attendance.

Todd and I would like to thank the members for making this another fun and well attended Polar bear Season.

Hope to see yawl next Saturday,

George M & Todd R

Polar Bear Sign-in Recap

Sunday, November 13th, 2022
Hello Fellow Polar Bear,

GOOD NEWS: we have 47 people with perfect attendance.

BAD NEWS: Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow yesterday, so we will have 20 more weeks of cold weather.

RECAP: It was a warm 64 degree, sunny day to start the Polar Bear season. 40 riders and 7 passengers rode to Classic for the first Polar Bear sign-in. Classic HD supplied free food and refreshments for the event. The refreshments were served up by no other than the world traveler, Matt Jackson. Classic HD also had a special 30% one day discount coupon for the occasion. As always members arrived well before the window of 12-1sign-in time and hung around well after to socialize and enjoy the last of the warm weather.

The next Polar Bear event and destination is Sunday, Nov 20 at the Fredericksburg Eagle Hotel. Sign-in time is 12-1. The forecast as of now will be 42 degrees and sunny. This will put everyone more into the Polar Bear spirit.

Todd and I would like to thank the members that attended and Classic HD for making the kick-off to the Polar Bear Season yet another fun time.

Hope to see yawl next Sunday,

George M & Todd R
